GAMECUBE HOMELESSNESS BLAMED ON WII
BY TOMMO - 17 Dec 2006
WE LOVE TOMMO

At this time of year we all grow reminiscent of adverts reminding us that ‘a dog is for life, not just for Christmas’ but one commentator believes that is not our furry four-legged friends we should be worried about. “It’s shocking to think it, but more and more GameCubes are being shown the door by their owners,” described Ian Thatcher of the Institute of Consumer Affairs, “It’s totally unprecedented.”

Speaking over the telephone yesterday evening, Mr. Thatcher attributed the turn of events to the younger brother of the GameCube; the Wii. “The Wii has only been out here a couple of days but already we’re seeing GameCubes being locked in cupboards and not being cared for properly.”

I was invited by Mr. Thatcher to view the report he’s writing. “This isn’t a new thing. The same thing has happened to Mega Drives, Super Nintendos and even Playstations in the past. It really brings a tear to your eye.” Mr. Thatcher’s report claims that even if you intend to purchase a Wii, a GameCube is still an important part of the normal, British household.

“My sources inform me that some GameCubes are even being sold in order to cover the costs of the Wii, which claims to be able to do everything the GameCube can do and better. It’s a worrying situation. It’s like selling your math prodigy child to buy a calculator. It’s just not on at all.”

“People need to be made aware that selling GameCubes can lead to some of the most brutal abuses known to man. These consoles end up in second hand shops, in Internet auctions and, according to some reports, as replacements for Nintendo 64s. This is not the solution to the problem.”

Nintendo of Europe declined to comment.
