Hello, strange new Xbox 360! Microsoft today announced the new Xbox 360 Elite - it's black, comes with a huge 120GB hard drive, has full HDMI support, self-recharging controller packs, all the fancy HD-type leads you'll need and it's just $479.99 (around £255 in real money).
Could it be that Microsoft's "Elite" new Xbox 360 is not so much set to destroy the PlayStation 3 by giving you more and undercutting it, but is instead lining itself up against Apple's iTV? Xbox Live's pumping out of HDTV and rental movies combined with HDMI, 1080p and that giant hard drive would certainly suggest that Microsoft are up to more than just destroying Sony's efforts.
However, if you have an "old" Xbox 360, don't worry - you can buy all the Elite upgrade separately, and then just paint over your Xbox 360 in black.
