Sony are set to miss their PlayStation 3 sales targets for 2006 and 2007 if current sales trends are anything to go by.
Sony said that they would sell 2 Million consoles by the end of 2006 and 6 Million by the end of March 2007. Currently, sales of the PlayStation 3 total up to just under 900,000 units, and the same group of chimpanzees that accurately scooped up daily Wii sales numbers are saying that Sony won't sell 1 Million PlayStation 3 consoles until the second week in January.
Sales are expected to pick up by 35% shortly after the New Year (no surprises there, then) but it looks like that won't be enough for Sony to meet their 6 Million target - meaning that Sony will only sell just over 4 Million consoles by the end of March, missing their sales target by a third.
Still, that is mucho console sold. My suggestion to you all is to go out and buy a PlayStation 3, a big Bravia TV and help Sony on their way!
